Strand Releasing delves into NISE: THE HEART OF MADNESS (review)

This affecting biopic looks at the revolutionary efforts of Dr. Nise da Silveira who is horrified by the barbaric new treatments she sees being used to treat mental illness.  Refusing to learn the new methods, she is consigned to the occupational therapy wing where she develops a method of self-expression through art that focuses on healing rather than curing those dismissed as incurable.
